Cronos Airlines starts operations in GhanaA new airline that will bridge the gap between equatorial Guinean’s capital Malabo and Accra, was greeted with cheers and applause at the airport, Friday. The new airline, Cronos Airline will be flying from Accra to Malabo twice in a week and hopes to increase its frequency with increasing traffic. Ghana’s aviation industry continues to receive many international airlines with increasing volume of traffic. |

Court adjourns Ghana FA chief hearingThe Accra High Court has postponed the hearing of a $2m libel suit brought by the president of the Ghana FA, Kwesi Nyatakyi. Nyatakyi is seeking damages from a Ghanaian broadcast company which allegedly called him "the head of a Mafia". But the hearing has now been adjourned to 9 November after trial judge Daniel Mensah failed to turn up in court on Monday. "I am not interested in money or punishment but to set the record straight," Nyantakyi, a Fifa Council member, told BBC Sport. |

EC to declare results of December elections 72 hours after close of pollsResults of presidential and parliamentary elections would be announced within three days of casting of the ballot, the EC has announced. EC Chairperson, Charlotte Osei, is confident the use of manual and electronic transmission of results will enable the Commission collate and declare results within 72 hours. The Commission has been evaluating documents of telecom companies bidding for Virtual Private Network. The secured network will enable results to be transmitted from 275 Collation Centers to the head office of the Electoral Commission. |

Ghana passes law 'to evict presidents'Outgoing presidents in Ghana could be forcibly evicted from their official residences if they fail to move out in time, under new laws. Presidents and vice-presidents will have to hand over official homes and vehicles at least two weeks before the inauguration of a new leader. Two Chinese Arrested For Degrading COCOBOD LandTwo Chinese nationals are in the grip of the National Security for allegedly destroying land belonging to the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD). Li Wen Qieng, 28, and Mo Sin Shan, 35, were arrested in Wassa Saman in the Wassa Mampong District in the Western Region on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Briefing the media, the Deputy Intelligence Manager of COCOBOD, Mr Wisdom Delali Amehame, said a security guard of the Seed Production Department of the COCOBOD spotted the two who had erected canopies and were using two bulldozers to clear the land for mining. |

Social media ban not off the table - IGPThe Inspector General of Police (IGP) John Kudalor has reiterated his call for social media ban on election day if users post information that will threaten the peace of the country. According to him, the citizens have so far not given the police reasons to block various social media platforms on elections day. Zero tolerance for teacher absenteeism yields positive resultAccra, Oct. 21, GNA – The Zero Tolerance for Teacher Absenteeism policy adopted by the Ministry of Education to enhance accountability, and increase teacher presence as well as time on desk in schools has yielded positive results. After three years of its implementation, the rate of teacher absenteeism has declined from 27 per cent in 2012 to seven per cent in 2016. Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Minister of Education, who announced this in Accra said, the Ministry would continue to champion the course until the rate of teacher absenteeism is brought to zero. |
