Accra, April 5, GNA - Members of the Minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) side on the Appointments Committee of Parliament Wednesday boycotted sittings to vet deputy ministers designate.

They said the Majority had sidestepped an agreement for the House to go on recess on Wednesday, April 5, 2017.

Parliament is expected to go on recess by Friday, April 7, but the Appointments Committee will continue vetting the remaining 50 deputy ministers designate.

Accra, April 4, GNA - The World Bank’s Vice President for Africa, Mr Makhtar Diop, has extended the Bank’s support towards addressing Ghana’s numerous economic challenges.

He said the Bank was concerned about “one of the engines in the sub-region” and was determined to help Ghana emerge out of her current situation.

Mr Diop made the commitment when he called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Flagstaff House on Tuesday, in Accra.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has re-appointed Kwesi Appiah as the coach of the Black Stars.

Appiah, who will also take charge of the national team for locally-based players, has been offered a two-year contract to start work 1 May.

He replaces Avram Grant who stepped down as coach after the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

It is a second stint in charge for Appiah, who led the Black Stars from 2012 until 2014.

Since leaving the Black Stars following a poor World Cup campaign, he has been coaching Sudanese side Al Khartoum.

Effective July 1, 2017, petrol and diesel imported into the country will have a maximum sulpur content level of 50 Parts Per Million (ppm), Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Hassan Tampuli, has directed.

According to him, NPA had to revise the initial start date of April 1, 2017, mainly to engage Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) to make sure that the State-owned refinery as a national asset is not put at a disadvantage position.

He said people agitating over the consistent reference to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as the founder of independent Ghana are only being selective with history.
